Bo Knows: Sends Advice Russell Wilson's Way

When given advice from easily the best two-sport athlete of all time, it is probably a good idea to listen. Bo Jackson told CSNChicago Tuesday,
“Stick to what got [Wilson] in the headlines, not baseball. Twenty-five or 30 years ago when I did it, I’m not trying to say anything negative about other athletes, but the talent pool wasn’t that deep. In this day in age, with all the high-tech training, computer-engineered workouts and the proper food and diet, if you try to concentrate on two sports, I guarantee you’re going to ride the bench in both because the talent is that deep. Stick to whatever sport you’re comfortable with and let everything else go.”

NFL: Former Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Ware Signs with Denver Broncos

Getty Images
Three days ago the Dallas Cowboys released Demarcus Ware, one of the best defensive players in Cowboys franchise history. Ware was drafted in 2005 and compared, by then coach Bill Parcels, to Lawrence Taylor.
Ware put up 117 sacks in his nine years as a Cowboy and was selected to the Pro-Bowl every year from 2006-2012. He had a career low six sacks in 2013 but he missed the first three games of the season with a quadriceps strain. Ware also had a string of 11 seasons in which he had at least 11 sacks. He had a career high 20 sacks in 2008 and almost did it again in 2011 with 19.5 sacks. Ware had three consecutive 15-sack seasons. The only football player ever to have more is NFL Hall of Famer, Reggie White who had five consecutive 15-sack seasons.

Why I am a Dallas Cowboys Fan ....

www.tendenarium.com
You know how I like to throw a little bit of football into the mix every once in a while.  This time I actually decided to do a little football piece on my own. I am always asked, ALWAYS, "why are you a Cowboys fan?" Let's face it the only people who LOVE the Dallas Cowboys are the millions of Dallas fans across the country. Everyone else hates us but that's ok! We are America's teal! LOL!

But growing up in Northern California in the late 80's and 90's there was not much love lost between the Cowboys fans and San Francisco 49ers fans! People just could not believe  that I didn't love the Niners like everyone else. Even some of my friends' dads upset me because even they had to get in on my love for the Cowboys. I LOVE the fact that I am a Dallas Cowboys fan espcially one who was at an impressional age during a great dynasty led by the love of my life! LOL! This is all true. No joking. Not about Troy.

The honor of being a Cowboys fan was bestowed upon me, by my parents, Aunt and Uncle and the great state of Texas, at the time of my birth. By the time I understood the game well I was about eight years old. The year was 1989 and the Cowboys drafted Troy Aikman first overall in the NFL Draft. When that happened I looked at my family and said,
"I am going to marry him someday."

Of course I didn't marry Troy Aikman but he was and still is my hero. He was drafted when I was eight (sure he lost a lot games at first but I always had faith!) - the same year THAT THE OAKLAND A'S SWEPT THE S (=stupid) F (=fans) GNATS! (excuse me? did I misspell that? Oh, wait, nope! It was as is obvious definitely on purpose!) What I am saying is that 1989 was overall a great sports year for me!

Then in 1990 the Cowboys drafted Emmitt Smith (Michael Irvin was drafted in 1988) and the dynasty of my childhood was born. Unfortunately living in NorCal the Cowboys played the Whiners (excuse me? did I misspell that? Oh, wait, nope!) four straight years in the NFC Championship game winning three, losing one. After they three the won they went on to win the Super Bowl in 1992, 1993 and 1995.

So by the time I was 14-years old I felt so accomplished - at least in my teams if that makes sense - the A's had beaten the team I hated and still hate most over all teams in all sports the gnats in the World Series and  my Cowboys led by my boy Troy had won me three Super Bowls. What kid ... loving baseball and football and Troy Aikman  ....  could possibly go through that between the ages of 8 and 14 and not love sports and have lifetime loyalty towards the teas teams that made him/her so happy for so long?

Besides being ingrained in me by my family and place of birth, I got to see the teams I loved so much succeed. Sure my beloved A's only won one World Series during that time span the went to three consecutively and you can't say that isn't success. It is not the ultimate success but it's better than the rest! Those were good years. I'll explain more about my why I am an A's fan and why I love baseball so much more than ANY other sport in another post. I have work to get done for the Major League Baseball Advanced Media Affiliated blog - OustidePitchMLB and the Outside Pitch Sports Network ... but before I go I will say that my dedication to the game of football and the Dallas Cowboys has changed over these many years of Tony Romo (don't even get me started! lol) but I still watch almost every game and the Cowboys will always have a piece of my heart.

Russell Wilson to Report to Rangers Spring Training!

Apparently, Super Bowl Champion quarterbacks, at least ones named Russell Wilson, like to work year round. It was reported today, by Fox Sports’ Jon Morosi, that yesterday’s Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback will still be reporting to the Texas Ranger’s Spring Training camp. He was taken by the Rangers in this winter’s Rule 5 Draft.
Wilson was originally drafted in the 41st round of the 2007 amateur draft by the Baltimore Orioles....

NFL: Jets, Rex Ryan Agree on Multi-Year Extension

Check it out guys! It is my second NFL article in a month! I must be branching out of my comfort zone! Woohoo! LOL!

It’s official, well almost, Jets’ head coach Rex Ryan is no longer a lame duck. Although it was confirmed in December by the Jets’ owner, Woody Johnson, that he intended to keep Ryan on for the 2014 season, thus leaving Ryan to coach into the last year of his contract, it appears that things have changed. It has been reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Ryan and the Jets have come to an agreement on a multi-year contract extension. The details of the contract are not yet public but what is known is that Ryan will be with the Jets for at least the next three years.

Ryan was hired in 2009, taking on a Jets team that was coming of of consecutive non-playoff seasons. In the next two seasons he led he Jets to two straight AFC Championship games, losing one to Indianapolis and the other to Pittsburgh. In 2011, expectations for the Jets were high but they ended up at what was then a disappointing 8-8 season. The 2012 season brought about more disappointment for the Jets. The signing of quarterback Tim Tebow became a huge distraction and when quarterback Mark Sanchez played, he had an alarming number of turnovers. The Jets finished the 2012 season at 6-10.

Kinda Off my Blog Topic but I Wrote About Football! Who knew?

So, I took a chance and wrote a little football article for Sports Unbiased on the Redskins hiring Jay Gruden as their new head coach. I LOVE all sports! Football comes in second to the obvious, then Basketball and then Hockey but I usually like to write about what I know which of course is pretty evident if you have ever seen my blog or status updates on my Facebook Page or Twitter Page. Anyway, I had once partaken in a collaborative article on NFL running backs for SU and no one had stepped up to take the story so I thought ... why not? What can it hurt to try? And actually it has gotten good reviews from the editors and public so I decided to put it on my blog! Sorry it's not about baseball or more specifically the A's who Sports Illustrated said would win the World Series in 2014 in their article: Top Ten Predictions for the 2014 Baseball Season ... A-mAzing as I like to say! This really could be our year! Let's Go Oakland ... but back to my article ... Here is the link! Check it out!

SportsUnbiased.com

So recently I was recruited to write about baseball for the up and coming website SportsUnbiased.com. I am very flattered, nervous and VERY EXCITED about an opportunity to get my name out there as a legitimate writer! And having structure and someone to look up to (like my editors) and be accountable too will help because obviously I have trouble getting my blogs done! Tons of ideas but when it comes right down to it they never get finished and published! So this is the sort of gig I have been waiting for and it came to me! Here is a link to the first piece I contributed to for the site! Hope y'all enjoy it! It's not baseball - but football and while I don't know as much about football as baseball, I was able to take my knowledge along with a bit of research and contribute to the article:
